AVOID THE COLLISION - STAY IN YOUR LANE
The Board of Directors of a Community Association is the epicenter of all community activity. In order to
effectively operate the Association, Board Members must interact with not only each other but owners,
committee members, property managers, contractors and many other professionals.
Crossing that "invisible" line can cause discord and inefficiency when Board Directors, Community Members
and Managers overstep their authority and fail to fulfill their role.
How can this be avoided? How does a Board handle this? Please join the CAI Chesapeake Chapter at
a seminar for a frank discussion on the roles and responsibilities of the Board Directors and how the
appropriate interaction between the various groups within the Community Association will help effectively
operate the Association.
Discussions will include techniques to assist the Board Directors and help them stay in their "traditional
lane" and not overstep their roles or responsibilities. Discussions will also take place regarding the
different tasks that should be completed by the Board Officers and Directors as opposed to Committee
Members and Owners; allocation of duties between the Board and the Property Manager; discussion on
best practices with contractors/vendors and other professionals retained by the Board.
Come and take away "tips" on how to smoothly transition from one "lane" to the next and bring a more
productive and enhanced community spirit.
