Event Details This workshop will teach you how to become a more successful board member and how you can recruit and support new volunteers. You'll learn the role of the board, the president and other leadership positions, and you'll identify effective ways to work with professional managers and service providers.
All attendees will be receiving the Board Member Toolkit, a best-selling book from CAI Press and the The Board Member Toolkit Workbook.
Due to the length of this program, it will be held from 9:00 am-12:30 pm on Friday, June 18th and Saturday, June 19th.

Raymond Via Partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP For more than 20 years, Mr. Via's practice has primarily involved the representation of condominium and homeowners associations throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is experienced in all facets of association representation including drafting and amending governing documents for community associations. Mr. Via has successfully litigated numerous cases involving community associations in Maryland and the District of Columbia in both trial and appellate courts. Mr. Via is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) and a past president of the Board of Directors of the Chesapeake Chapter of CAI. He has written and lectured extensively on community association issues and regularly teaches homeowner education courses. He is also a member of CAI's National Faculty and served for many years as a delegate to the Maryland Legislative Action Committee. He remains actively involved in the process of both creating and monitoring national, state and local legislation affecting community associations.
Barry Yatovitz President, Association Management at WPM Real Estate Management M. Barry Yatovitz oversees Condominium and Homeowner Association Management and coordinates communication between the property management team, the service maintenance team and our corporate staff. Barry brings over 24 years of experience in property management and has earned the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM®), Community Association Manager (CMCA®) and Association Management Specialist (AMS®) credentials. Barry earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland. His management and accounting experience includes working with Marriott Hotels Corp., Po Folks Restaurants and as Controller for Premier Design Systems, a firm specializing in Computer Aided Design Systems.
